彩雲紙　Saiunshi

さまざまに変化してゆく美しい雲の彩りを表現した彩雲紙を大胆な配色で仕上げた和紙です。

鮮やかに染めた楮の繊維を二人の職人が阿吽の呼吸で流し込むそのとき、紙に命が吹き込まれ大胆克つ繊細で華のある魅力的な和紙が生まれます。
繊維一本一本が水の流れに沿って漂う様は機械漉きでは決して見ることの出来ない越前の技。その時々で変化する水の流れを操り仕上げる彩雲紙は、この世に全く同じ柄は存在しないまさに世界で唯一の和紙なのです。

“Saiun-shi” is an exquisite washi that captures the ever-changing hues of iridescent clouds, brought to life through a bold and vibrant palette. The soul of the paper is awakened in a singular, breath-taking moment: as two master artisans work in perfect, unspoken synchronicity to pour the brilliantly dyed kozo (mulberry) fibers. This harmonious union gives birth to a paper that is at once daring, delicate, and profoundly captivating.

The sight of each individual fiber drifting along the natural current of the water reveals a depth of artistry that machine production can never replicate. By skillfully navigating the transient flow of water—a technique perfected in Echizen—these artisans ensure that no two patterns are ever the same. Each sheet of “Saiun-shi” is a masterpiece of the moment, a truly singular creation that stands as the only one of its kind in the world.
